Indonesian National Team Head Coach John Herdman admitted he is not afraid of facing Vietnam in the 2026 ASEAN Championship Hyundai Cup or AFF Cup.
"We're very interested, it will be a good opponent to test the team's abilities," said John Herdman at the Bali United Training Center, Gianyar Regency, Bali, on Friday.
According to him, Vietnam is expected to be the most difficult team because they started their preparations earlier, namely on June 22.
"They've been together for a long time, and they've had a long-time coach. They know how to win," added the 50-year-old coach.
Not only Vietnam, he said the Red and White squad also wanted to face Malaysia in the prestigious competition in Southeast Asia.
"But we also want to challenge Malaysia, whenever Indonesia gets the chance to play against Malaysia," he added.
Meanwhile, Indonesian national team player Rizky Ridho added that during nearly a week of training in Bali, he and the Red and White squad were gradually able to implement the coach's instructions.
On the other hand, he also acknowledged that Vietnam is a strong team in the 2026 AFF Cup.
