Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic described his dramatic victory over Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime as one of the best matches he has ever played at Wimbledon, after a five-hour, 15-minute quarter-final duel.
The seven-time Wimbledon champion defeated third seed Auger-Aliassime 7-6(10), 3-6, 6-3, 6-7(4), 7-6(4) in what was recorded as the longest quarter-final match in the history of the grasscourt tournament.
"It was a great feeling to be part of this epic match that lasted over five hours. Honestly, it was one of the best matches I've ever played at Wimbledon," Djokovic said in his post-match press conference, as quoted by the ATP.
The 39-year-old said the match reminded him of the 2019 Wimbledon final against Roger Federer, when he saved two chances to win the event before eventually winning in a fifth-set tie-break .
"I don't remember ever playing this long in any match. Maybe the final against Roger in 2019 was close in terms of time and duration," said Djokovic.
