The Russian newspaper Kommersant reported that the Russian company Regiontransneft intends to build a huge factory to produce about 40 types of electronic devices and products, including computers, smartphones and televisions.
According to the newspaper, the first phase of the project will involve investments of $400 million, and the company will purchase two industrial properties in the Moscow region, with a total area of more than 114,000 square meters. The deal is valued at approximately 15 billion rubles and is expected to be completed by the end of summer 2026.
The company plans to operate the first phase of the factory, which will include large-scale assembly of household appliances, before the end of this year. The facility will be managed by MK Ross, a company created specifically for this project.
The factory is planned to produce around 40 categories of electronics and household appliances, including televisions, refrigerators, irons, air conditioners, electric kettles, tablets, smartwatches, desktop computers (monoblocks), smartphones, lamps, batteries, and other products.
For consumers, this project represents an expansion of locally manufactured appliance options. If the factory manages to achieve mass production, the availability of locally assembled goods in various price categories, from small household appliances to home electronics, is likely to increase.
The project comes at a time when the sector is facing major challenges, as data from the Kommersant newspaper indicates that the revenues of household appliance manufacturers in Russia will decline by 11.6% by the end of 2025, reaching 209.2 billion rubles. Therefore, the operation of the new factory may constitute an attempt to strengthen the local market and reduce dependence on foreign imports.
