The Milwaukee Bucks have decided to retain Gary Trent Jr. after agreeing to a four-year, $64 million contract, demonstrating the club's long-term commitment to maintaining roster depth.
The NBA website said Sunday that the deal keeps Trent a key part of the Bucks' rotation, having played for the team for the past two seasons.
The 27-year-old previously exercised his opt-out rights and entered free agency before remaining with the Bucks.
Trent reportedly received an average contract value of around 16 million US dollars per season.
The Bucks were able to offer the contract thanks to the club's Bird Rights, an NBA rule that allows a team to extend its own player's contract, even if the team's total salary exceeds the league's maximum salary cap.
