Dutch League Club Fortuna Sittard's Technical Director, Joris Mathijsen, revealed the reasons for bringing in Indonesian national team striker Ole Romeny in this summer's transfer window.
Quoted from the club's official website, Sunday, Mathijsen said the arrival of Ole Romeny from English club Oxford United was an effort to sharpen Fortuna Sittard's front line.
"Ole is a strong addition to the attack, someone I know well from previous collaborations," explained Mathijsen.
He added that he continues to monitor Ole's development and believes the player, who previously played for FC Utrecht, now has international experience as a striker for the Indonesian national team.
"Since then, he has developed further and gained experience, both at the national and international levels. Furthermore, he is now a member of the Indonesian national team," he continued.
Fortuna Sittard signed the 26-year-old from Oxford United on a one-year loan deal, which will run until the end of the 2026/2027 season.
Mathijsen explained that the process of Ole Romeny's move to Fortuna Sittard took quite some time, but in the end he was quite happy with the completion of this.
"We've been working on Ole's arrival for quite some time, but the process of obtaining his work permit has made the transfer take longer," Mathijsen added.
This transfer process also makes Ole Romeny return to competing in the Dutch League after previously defending NEC Nijmegen, Willem II, FC Emmen and FC Utrecht.
