Algerian national team player Jaouen Hadjam said his team's failure to advance to the round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup was a valuable lesson for the young Algerian squad to continue developing.
Hadjam assessed that the defeat to Switzerland in the round of 32 was not solely due to the pressure of the match.
"Every match in the World Cup brings pressure on all teams. Maybe the pressure was a little greater today because it was a life-or-death match, but pressure is a good thing and we needed it," Hadjam said after the match.
He stressed that the match was tight and determined by small details.
Although Algeria created a number of chances and showed a fairly good game, the team was less effective in taking advantage of their opportunities.
According to Hadjam, Switzerland appeared more efficient, especially in maximizing opportunities in crucial areas.
