In a pioneering experiment, artificial intelligence replaces teachers in a Texas school

A private school called Alpha School has opened in the US state of Texas, where neural networks have replaced traditional teachers.

A private school called Alpha School has opened in the US state of Texas, where neural networks have replaced traditional teachers.

Students study academic subjects with artificial intelligence, while humans in the classroom perform various other roles.

According to The Free Press, there are no teachers at the school in the classical sense. Instead, there are "mentors" who monitor discipline, motivation, and the overall educational process, but they do not teach mathematics, languages, or natural sciences.

The school day there is organized in an unconventional way, with children working for about two hours on laptops with artificial intelligence that adjusts the program according to the pace of each individual student.

The rest of the time is devoted to practical activities and life skills. Students learn public speaking, furniture assembly, and other applied skills that the project's creators believe will be useful outside the classroom.

The founders of Alpha School assert that this model helps children grasp material twice as fast as their peers in traditional schools. However, it is a specialized educational experience, and therefore expensive.

Billionaire Joe Lemandt, who invested in developing the school and transferred his children to it, is considered one of the most prominent supporters of the project. It is worth noting that he allocated $1 billion to develop special software for it.

Tuition at Alpha School ranges from $40,000 to $75,000 per year, depending on the type of campus. Therefore, it is currently considered an experiment for affluent families and not a mainstream alternative to traditional AI-powered schools.
