US embassies in the Middle East have warned against travel to the Gulf and Middle East region, urging people to avoid Lebanon and Iraq and to reconsider visiting Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
The U.S. embassies in Lebanon, Iraq, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia issued identical security alerts, noting that the security situation in the region remains complex with the potential for unexpected escalation. They advised U.S. citizens to exercise extreme caution, monitor local news, and check their flight schedules, while also being aware of the possibility of travel disruptions or airspace closures without prior notice, and to seek shelter in the event of any attacks.
The warnings emphasized "not traveling" to Lebanon and Iraq, while calling for "reconsideration" of travel to Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
In its broadest scope, the US State Department warning included 15 destinations: Bahrain, Lebanon, Egypt, Oman, Iran, Qatar, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Israel, the West Bank and Gaza Strip, Syria, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Yemen.
