the clue was found in the Battery Health section in Settings .

Apple uses the plural form "batteries" in the Battery Health text . The company has previously used the singular form for all iPhone models.

Text in the Battery Health menu that indicates dual battery usage includes "the batteries in this iPhone are functioning as expected," "the health of the batteries in this iPhone has degraded significantly," and a warning that "one of the batteries" is not a genuine Apple component.

The use of the term has raised speculation that Apple is preparing software for a phone with two batteries, a configuration commonly used on foldable phones to adjust the hinge design and weight distribution of the device.
