| Food poisoning case in Jordan |
The Jordanian Ministry of Health announced on Saturday that 72 suspected cases of food poisoning had been recorded in the Al-Hashimiyah district of Zarqa Governorate, after people ate meals from a restaurant in the area.
The ministry said in a statement that the injured had visited Zarqa Governmental Hospital and Prince Hashim Military Hospital, in addition to a private hospital, and were suffering from symptoms including vomiting, frequent diarrhea, headache and abdominal pain.
She explained that most of the cases were described as mild, as they received the necessary treatment and left the hospitals after their condition improved, while a limited number were admitted to the hospital for observation and to complete treatment.
The ministry indicated that Zarqa Governmental Hospital received 38 cases, while Prince Hashim Military Hospital received 31 cases, and 3 cases were referred to a private hospital.
For its part, the General Food and Drug Administration confirmed that it carried out an immediate field inspection of the restaurant linked to the cases, and decided to close it as a precaution, while taking samples of the meals to conduct laboratory tests, while investigations are still ongoing.
