Former world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua survived a surprise attack in the first round before knocking out Albanian Kristian Berengha in a fight held in Jeddah.

The fight began with Joshua being knocked to the ground by a powerful right hand punch within the first 30 seconds, but he managed to hold on until the end of the round, intensifying his attack in the second round and delivering a series of punches that brought Brenga down against the ropes, allowing the British boxer to win the fight.

This fight is the first for the 36-year-old British boxer since he was injured in a tragic car accident in Nigeria last December, which resulted in the death of two of his close friends.

In a related context, Britain’s Tyson Fury defeated Poland’s Mariusz Wach last Friday in Thailand, after the latter withdrew before the start of the eighth round.

This victory paved the way for the highly anticipated fight between Joshua and Fury, with promoter Eddie Hearn confirming that the contract between the two parties had been officially signed for a highly anticipated fiery encounter.
