The World Boxing Council (WBC) announced that boxers Jose Kadima and Herbert Matovu are ready to enter the ring to dominate the WBC Africa heavyweight at Emperor Place, South Africa, on July 11.
"The fight for the WBC regional belt will directly boost the winner's world ranking and, most importantly, open the door to international boxing," the WBC said in a statement on its official website, as monitored.
Kadima comes in as an undefeated boxer and a promising prospect ready to become a major star for the first time in his career.
The Angolan boxer, who has recorded eight wins including six knockouts , is known for his devastating fighting style and is the most exciting heavyweight boxer from Africa.
In the main event of the Golden Gloves event titled “Magic At The Palace”, the skills of the boxer nicknamed “Drago” will be tested by dangerous opponent Herbert Matovu.
Ugandan Matovu, with a record of nine wins and one loss, also brings a strong determination to dominate the African heavyweight division and pave the way for competition on the international stage.
The only loss in the "Black Bomber"'s career came on the world stage in the cruiserweight division, suffering a second-round knockout loss to former world contender Umar Salamov in February 2025.
