President Director of PT Kereta Api Indonesia Bobby Rasyidin confirmed the operational readiness of the integration of Karet Station and BNI City Station to provide a safer, more comfortable and integrated customer journey.
KAI targets the integration of Karet Station with BNI City Station to begin operations on September 28, 2026. The integration is being prepared as part of improving Jabodetabek KRL services through structuring customer flow, strengthening operational safety, and improving access in the area around the station.
Bobby said the plan was prepared with a principle of caution because Karet Station has become part of the daily activities of many customers and the surrounding community.
KAI understands that the area is alive with community activities, from pedestrians, drop-off and pick-up drivers, motorcycle taxis, online motorcycle taxis, to local business owners.
"Therefore, the arrangement must be carried out properly, in stages, and with continued input," said Bobby.
Under the integration plan, the Karet Station area will be transformed into a concourse, or connecting space, to BNI City Station. KAI is also preparing air-conditioned travelators to make customer transfers to BNI City more comfortable.
Customer gate-in and gate-out activities will be centered at BNI City Station, while the Karet area will remain prepared as an organized supporting access.
Bobby explained that this integration was driven by safety and service needs. The close proximity of Karet Station to BNI City Station impacts train operating patterns.
In addition, the activities of getting on and off, dropping off, and picking up customers around Karet Station need to be arranged to be safer for customers, road users, and the surrounding community.
