The Judicial Commission has sent a team to monitor the trial process in the case of the confinement and abuse of a woman with the initials YTR at the Bandung District Court, West Java.
"In accordance with its authority, the Judicial Commission will monitor the examination process of this case at the Bandung District Court," said Deputy Chairman of the Judicial Commission, Desmihardi, after a limited cross-sector discussion on the supervision and implementation of the Sexual Violence Crimes Law in the criminal justice system.
Desmihardi said that the case of the woman's confinement and abuse was considered sadistic and had attracted widespread attention from the Indonesian public.
According to him, this case has attracted widespread public attention because it is considered to have violated human values.
"We are quite concerned about this case. This case really damages our sense of humanity, it's sadistic," he said.

Desmihardi said monitoring will be carried out from the reading of the indictment to the issuance of the sentence to ensure that the entire trial process runs according to regulations.
He explained that the Judicial Commission would examine the fulfillment of the victims' rights, the judge's attitude in leading the trial, and the course of the case examination.
"We are monitoring the trial process. Have the victims' rights been met? What is the judge's attitude in presiding over the trial and conducting the examination of this case? Of course, we will monitor this," he said.
Regarding the possibility of the trial being held behind closed doors, Desmihardi said that this was entirely within the authority of the panel of judges.
