Wearing the number 19 jersey and a World Cup winner at the age of 19, Lamine Yamal is clearly no ordinary young man.
He made history after leading Spain to its second World Cup trophy, defeating Argentina 1-0 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, United States. La Roja's winning goal was scored by Ferran Torres in extra time.
Although he didn't score the decisive goal in the final, Spain's triumph in lifting the trophy earned Yamal a record never before achieved by any other player. He became the first teenager in football history to win both the European Championship and the World Cup.
This achievement feels even more special because the two major titles were won in a very short time.
At Euro 2024, Yamal was outstanding as he led Spain to the European Championship title at the age of 17. His performances throughout the tournament earned him the Best Young Player award.
Two years later, he lifted the prestigious trophy again, this time at the 2026 World Cup.
Although his contribution to the world tournament wasn't as impressive as at the European Championship, Yamal was still a key part of Spain's run to the title. The Barcelona player scored once throughout the competition and began featuring regularly from the knockout stages.
