ABC News reported that US investigators suspect that Gabriel Perez, the teleprompter operator for President Donald Trump, made more than $100,000 from bets.
The channel quoted informed sources as saying that Perez, who has worked with Trump since 2016, made tens of thousands of dollars by betting on the president’s State of the Union address to Congress last February, taking advantage of undisclosed information about the president’s speeches.
Along with more than 12 other speeches on the prediction platform " Kalshi, " she added that Perez is in talks with federal regulators to reach a settlement regarding allegations of using insider information to make financial gains exceeding $100,000.
According to the sources, the bets included more than 12 events over three months, including Trump’s speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January 2026, and the Medal of Honor ceremony last March.
The sources indicated that the White House had sent an internal memo to its employees warning them against using undisclosed information in such betting.
Perez also confirmed to investigators that he had made some of those deals, but that he was still continuing his work operating the president's electronic teleprompter.
The sources added that the Commodity Futures Trading Commission expressed its willingness to settle the case with Perez, provided that it includes returning the profits he made, in addition to prohibiting his participation in such transactions in the future.
