Iran: US attacks on civilian infrastructure constitute war crimes

Iran's UN representative, Amir Saeed Irvani, said that US attacks targeting civilian infrastructure in Iran constitute a grave violation of international humanitarian law and amount to war crimes.

In a letter addressed to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the President of the UN Security Council, Ervani explained that the Islamic Republic of Iran "condemns in the strongest terms the acts of aggression and deliberate targeting of civilian infrastructure by the United States."

He added that Tehran considers these attacks a serious violation of international humanitarian law, calling on the United Nations and the Security Council to assume their responsibilities regarding what he described as "American aggression" and to take the necessary measures in accordance with the provisions of international law.
