Saudi club Al-Ittihad has entered the race to sign Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, the winger for Liverpool FC, after its management reopened the file on signing him during the current summer transfer window.
According to Al-Riyadh newspaper, the move by Al-Ittihad came after the club's officials were convinced of the great technical and marketing value that Salah represents, especially in light of the Saudi League Association's adoption of a new standard related to television viewership and the impact of deals on the public when evaluating major contracts.
The sources confirmed that the club's management has no objection to proceeding with the deal, provided that the recruitment program's approval is obtained and the necessary financial requirements are met, which puts "Al-Ittihad" in direct competition with the clubs seeking to sign the Egyptian national team captain.
The interest from Al-Ittihad comes at a time when Mohamed Salah's name has been strongly linked with a move to Al-Ahli, following the departure of Algerian star Riyad Mahrez, as the management of "Al-Raqui" believes that the Liverpool captain represents the ideal option to compensate for the absence of one of the team's most prominent stars.
Although the club’s recent policy has focused on attracting younger players, Mohamed Salah’s global stature and his technical and commercial value have prompted the club to reconsider its priorities.
On the other hand, other reports indicate that Salah’s move to the Saudi League still faces obstacles, given the interest of English club Aston Villa in acquiring the player’s services, along with a desire to keep him in the English Premier League.
Mohamed Salah has an exceptional career that began with Al Mokawloon Al Arab, before shining in Europe with Basel, Chelsea, Fiorentina and Roma, then achieving great successes with Liverpool, where he won the English Premier League and Champions League titles, in addition to many individual and collective achievements.
