Moscow companies have strengthened their presence in Africa after their industrial exports to the continent nearly doubled during 2025.
Companies from the Russian capital, Moscow, continued to strengthen their presence in African markets, after their industrial exports to the continent recorded remarkable growth during 2025 , supported by government programs aimed at expanding the spread of high-tech Russian products abroad.
Moscow Deputy Mayor for Transport and Industry, Maxim Liksutov , announced that the Russian capital maintained its leading position among Russia’s regions in terms of trade volume with African countries, accounting for 36.7% of total Russian trade with the continent.
He explained that industrial exports from Moscow companies to Africa increased during 2025 by 89.5% compared to 2024, which is almost equivalent to doubling the volume of exports, noting that this growth comes within the framework of the continuous support provided by the city to industrial companies wishing to enter foreign markets, in implementation of the directives of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
The Mosprom Export Support Center assists companies in developing strategies for external expansion, in addition to organizing their participation in international exhibitions and coordinating meetings with potential partners and importers, as well as covering the costs of setting up pavilions and transporting exhibits within the buyers' program .
The most prominent areas of cooperation between Moscow and African countries include pharmaceutical industries and medical equipment, as well as equipment for the fuel and energy sector, and technologies for developing infrastructure for the transport and communications sectors.
During the past year, Algeria, Egypt, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia and Nigeria topped the list of the most prominent African destinations for industrial exports coming from Moscow.
Exported products vary according to the needs of each market. Nigeria is experiencing increasing demand for human vaccines and diagnostic reagents, while the Democratic Republic of Congo imports vaccines. Exports to Algeria, Ethiopia, and Egypt focus on specialized vehicles, air conditioning equipment, and static energy converters.
In September 2026, Moscow is scheduled to organize a business mission to South Africa, where industrial companies in the Russian capital will hold a series of meetings with potential partners on the sidelines of the Electra Mining Africa exhibition , in a move aimed at expanding trade cooperation and enhancing the presence of Moscow industrial products in African markets.
