Observer: Increase in regional heads' financial rights must be performance-based

Public policy observer Tobirin from Jenderal Soedirman University  Purwokerto assessed that the discourse on increasing the financial rights of regional heads needs to be balanced with measurable, transparent performance indicators and a strong monitoring mechanism to truly provide benefits to the public.

"Improving the welfare of regional heads can be one of the drivers of work motivation," said the Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences  Unsoed in Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency.

However, he said, the policy must be accompanied by clear performance measures, openness to the public, and a firm system of rewards and sanctions.

According to him, so far the public has not received adequate information regarding indicators of the success of regional heads in carrying out their duties.
