The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday denied “in its entirety” the validity of statements that had been circulating regarding the Palestinian Authority’s request to South Africa to withdraw the genocide case filed against Israel before the International Court of Justice.
In a statement carried by the Palestinian news agency WAFA, the ministry said it “categorically denies what was said by Nasser (a former member of the Fatah Central Committee) regarding the request for South Africa to withdraw the lawsuit filed before the International Court of Justice, under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.”
On Tuesday, during his participation in a recording for the “Taqarub Podcast”, that the Palestinian Authority had asked South Africa to withdraw the lawsuit it had filed before the International Court of Justice, in which it accuses Israel of committing genocide against the Palestinians in Gaza.
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry, in its statement, expressed “its deep concern over the series of misleading and distorted narratives deliberately disseminated by Al-Qudwa on social media and podcasts against Palestinian diplomacy.”
The ministry called on various media outlets, podcast presenters, and social media users to “exercise accuracy and objectivity, and to act responsibly in addressing such allegations that undermine the efforts made by the State of Palestine to provide protection for our people, our land, and our holy sites.”
She also urged “not to be drawn into narratives aimed at weakening Palestinian national resilience.”
