The BRI Super League PSIM Yogyakarta squad underwent a medical check -up (MCU) ahead of the 2026/2027 season at Bethesda Hospital, Yogyakarta, on Friday.
Quoted from the club's official website, Friday, team doctor Muhammad Hovi explained that 12 PSIM Yogyakarta players attended the activity which started.
Hovi explained that a series of comprehensive physical examinations were conducted to detect the fitness level of each individual on the team. The medical team also reviewed the players' medical records and family health histories.
"A thorough examination will be conducted, primarily blood and heart tests. There will also be a check on the player's medical history, injuries, and family health history," Hovi explained.
The medical team explained that this detailed health check is very important to support the players' performance on the field.
The medical team also pays attention to checking family health history to minimize the inherent risks during the competition.
"We also emphasize family health history to anticipate pre-existing conditions, such as hypertension, heart disease, or diabetes. This is crucial and impactful for athletes. It's also important to understand any previous injury history," Hovi explained.
He continued, saying that the MCU results are important for assessing player performance and can serve as a reference for the coaching team in designing the team's program for upcoming competitions.
"In my opinion, MCU results can be used as a benchmark for assessing a player's performance 80 to 100 percent of the time. Therefore, MCUs are crucial in helping the coaching team develop training programs before the league begins," he concluded.
