Cape Verde goalkeeper Fosenia continued to write his extraordinary story at the 2026 World Cup, but this time off the pitch, after becoming the most followed goalkeeper on social media.
Fozniak’s number of followers on Instagram has risen to about 20.5 million, surpassing Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who has about 18 million followers, making him the most popular goalkeeper in the world in terms of the number of followers.
The huge jump in the veteran goalkeeper’s popularity came after his remarkable performance with the Cape Verde national team in the 2026 World Cup, especially during the round of 16 match against Argentina, where he saved eight shots on goal, despite his team losing 3-2 after extra time.
Fozniak had only about 50,000 followers before the start of the tournament, before his popularity exploded following the historic draw with Spain in the group stage, and then continued his outstanding performances against top teams, to become one of the most prominent stars of the current edition of the World Cup.
