Referee Anthony Taylor has announced his retirement after a 16-year career at the highest level, with the 2026 World Cup being his final tournament.
Quoted from the official Premier League website on Tuesday, Taylor considered the momentum the right time to retire and look forward to the transition to the next chapter of his career.
"Being a referee at an elite level is an incredible honor, but the pressure is immense and the scrutiny is constant," Taylor said.
The British referee expressed his deepest gratitude to all parties who have supported him during his career as a professional referee.
According to him, his career journey as a professional referee was able to reach that point thanks to all the support from his assistants, fellow referees and even his family.
