Belgium national team coach Rudi Garcia will not be extending his contract when his current deal expires on July 31, 2026, the Belgian Football Association (RBFA) has announced.
As quoted from the official FIFA website on Tuesday, RBFA and Garcia decided not to extend their collaboration after Belgium was stopped in the quarterfinals of the 2026 World Cup.
The RBFA expressed its gratitude to Garcia for guiding Belgium through difficult times, guiding the Red Devils to secure a place in UEFA Nations League A and qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
"We would like to express our sincere thanks to Rudi Garcia and his staff for their dedication, professionalism and commitment over the past 18 months, and wish them every success in the future," the RBFA said in a statement.
Garcia also conveyed his farewell message via a post on his personal Instagram account, stating that this decision was taken after discussions between the two parties.
He said it was an incredible experience to manage a team like Belgium and his journey over the past 18 months has been invaluable.
"I would like to thank the wonderful players, sporting director Vincent Mannaert, and the fans who have supported us throughout the World Cup. I wish Belgium all the best as they continue the generational transition I started," wrote Rudi Garcia.
The French coach was appointed to manage the Belgian National Team on January 24, 2025, replacing the position left by Domenico Tedesco.
During his time in charge of Belgium, Rudi Garcia managed 12 matches in various competitions, winning seven, drawing four and losing one.
