The World Football Association (FIFA) will reportedly conduct an investigation into the chaos that occurred on the field after the 2026 World Cup final between Spain and Argentina at MetLife Stadium, New Jersey, United States.
FIFA has appointed a disciplinary and ethics prosecutor to investigate the chaos following Spain's victory over Argentina.
The clash between the players occurred after Argentine midfielder Leandro Paredes made a rough move against Spanish players Eric Garcia and Gavi.
The incident then sparked a wider brawl between the two groups of players resulting in pushing and shoving and having to be physically separated, with Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni even stepping in to calm his players down.
In the match, Spain appeared dominant from the first minute and managed to pin down Argentina, the defending World Cup champions.
After the match ended in a goalless draw after 90 minutes, the match went into extra time and Spain managed to score the winning goal in the 106th minute through Ferran Torres' goal.
Spain managed to maintain their 1-0 lead until the end of the match and La Roja won their second World Cup title in history.
