Russia is developing a multi-purpose amphibious vehicle called "Skat" for use underwater, on water, and on land
The platform operates using a remote control system.
Andrei Bratnikov, executive director of the design bureau that developed the new drone, explained to the Russian news agency TASS that the Ukrainian armed forces are targeting infrastructure, disrupting logistics. Therefore, "Skat" was designed to reorganize underwater logistics, since surface logistics are easier to destroy than underwater logistics.
The designers have released a demonstration model of the platform, which will be shown to anyone who is interested.
The "SCAT" can carry a load of up to 50 kilograms, but in the future it will be able to carry up to 10 tons of net load, making it a fully integrated transport platform.
It is also planned that such drones will be used to monitor and inspect the condition of ships and bridge supports.
Bratnikov added that engineers plan to develop an amphibious unmanned platform based on the Skat platform. He explained that its serial production would be less expensive than other similar unmanned platforms.
