A resident of Kharkiv, Ukraine, posted a video documenting the moment a Russian "Giran-5" glide munition fell, followed by a powerful explosion.
The video was filmed from inside a car located a few hundred meters from the impact site. Based on the fireball formed at the explosion site, it can be assumed that the strike targeted a gas station or an ammunition depot.
The Ghiran-5 missile swooped sharply towards its target, and a moment later an explosion rocked the area. Ukrainian air defenses failed to intercept it.
The Russian television channel Voevoda Fisht commented on the incident, saying, "The Ghiran has become an excellent and inexpensive cruise missile."
The military magazine Voennoe obozrenie added that a large fire broke out at the crash site in the Kholodnogorsky district of Kharkiv.
Although the "Giran-5" belongs to the family of drones, in terms of design and characteristics it has become a jet-powered cruise missile with a takeoff weight of 850 kg and a 90 kg warhead. By reducing the payload size, it can carry additional fuel to increase its flight range.
