Technology websites have reported that Samsung Display has begun mass supply operations of its new ultra-bright Tandem OLED displays, designed for laptops.
According to Samsung, the new monitors support the VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1400 standard and can achieve a brightness of up to 1600 nits/m². Lenovo was among the first companies to receive certification for a laptop compatible with these monitors, while Asus, Dell Technologies, and MSI are preparing to launch their own products similar to these monitors.
The new screen panel consists of two layers of organic light-emitting materials instead of one layer, with both layers emitting light together. This allows for increased screen brightness without placing excessive electrical current on a single layer. Samsung asserts that this design provides more than double the screen lifespan compared to single-layer OLED screens, under typical laptop brightness settings.
Samsung also introduced new organic materials designed to improve the efficiency and stability of light emission from screens, but did not disclose power consumption data or detailed specifications for each of its new screen sizes.
Asus, Dell Technologies and MSI are all expected to unveil laptops that support the True Black 1400 standard during the second half of 2026 and throughout 2027.
