The Saudi General Authority for Food Security announced on Thursday that it has launched an international tender to import 655,000 tons of wheat, with shipments to be delivered during September and October 2026.
According to the authority, the quantities will be distributed to the ports of Jeddah, Yanbu and Jazan overlooking the Red Sea, continuing its approach that began in the previous tender, where it excluded the ports located on the Arabian Gulf due to the disruption of access to them through the Strait of Hormuz as a result of tensions related to the Iranian war.
The tender aims to purchase wheat through 11 shipments, including five shipments totaling 300,000 tons to Jeddah port, five other shipments of the same quantity to Yanbu port, in addition to one shipment of 55,000 tons to Jazan port.
In its previous tender, which was launched last April, the authority had purchased 985,000 tons of wheat to supply it during the period from June to August.
