Jayco AlUla rider Mauro Schmid won the 13th stage of the 2026 Tour de France after defeating Harold Tejada in a sprint to the finish line in Belfort, France, on the longest stage of this year's edition, measuring 205.8 kilometers.
Schmid secured victory after launching an attack alongside Tejada on the Ballon d'Alsace descent and maintaining the lead to the finish. Tom Pidcock (Pinarello Q36.5) completed the podium in third, two seconds behind.
"I still can't believe it. Today was incredibly tough from the start. The whole team was determined to get into the breakaway because we've been trying for the past few days, but it hasn't worked," Schmid said, as quoted on the official Tour de France website.
The Swiss rider attributed the victory to the hard work of the entire Jayco AlUla team. He credited his teammates with playing a crucial role in maintaining his chances of victory, including Luke Plapp, who controlled the chasing pack, and Michael Matthews and Ben O'Connor, who assisted on the climb.
"This is a team win, not just mine. I was fortunate to finish first, but everyone on the team worked incredibly hard for this result," said Schmid.
