Two officials from Iraqi factions told the Associated Press on Wednesday that six Iranian advisors were killed in US-Saudi airstrikes on Iraq overnight. Meanwhile, the Iranian newspaper Hamshahri reported that four military advisors affiliated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard were killed in the strikes.
Iranian authorities have not confirmed these casualties.
Sources in the Popular Mobilization Forces reported that at least ten of its members were killed as a result of strikes that targeted its positions in several Iraqi provinces at dawn on Wednesday.
The sources explained that the deadliest strikes targeted a site of the 30th Brigade in Nineveh Governorate, resulting in the deaths of the ten, in addition to material damage to the targeted sites.
Kataib Hezbollah in Iraq announced in a statement on Wednesday that responding to what it described as the “American-Saudi attack” has become inevitable, and may target “tools” affiliated with the United States inside Saudi territory.
The group gave the Iraqi government a deadline of August 6 to prove its ability to protect the country’s sovereignty and defend its territory before the faction takes any unilateral field steps.
