| Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa on meeting French President Emmanuel Macron |
Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa affirmed that Syria is entering a new phase of economic openness, calling on investors and industry leaders around the world to participate in reconstruction and building a new economic future for the country.
Al-Sharaa said, after meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron and holding a closed meeting that addressed joint cooperation files, that Syria has a strategic location linking the Mediterranean Sea to the Gulf and Iraq, noting that the importance of this location is increasing in light of the world’s need for safe and stable trade routes, which enhances Syria’s role as a major hub in regional and international transport and trade.
He pointed out that infrastructure development is a priority in the next phase, explaining that the proposed projects include upgrading ports and airports, renewing the aviation fleet and developing air navigation systems, in addition to exploring energy sources, upgrading electricity and water networks, and supporting the health, food industries and digital transformation sectors.
Al-Sharaa explained that Syrian industrial cities are ready to receive investments, stressing the work to provide a modern economic environment based on laws and institutions and encouraging long-term partnerships.
He added that the strategic partnership with France represents a model for the economic relations that Syria seeks to develop with Europe and the world, based on common interests and projects that contribute to supporting development and reconstruction.
