Tampines Rovers use President's Cup to boost team fitness

Tampines Rovers coach Nazri Nasir said his team is using the 2026 President's Cup as part of their pre-season preparations to improve their players' fitness and develop the playing style they want to implement in the upcoming season.

Nazri explained that the Singaporean club only started its pre-season program in early July, so the team's main focus at this time is not entirely on match results, but rather on building the foundation of the game and the players' physical condition.

"This is still the preseason period, so my main focus is on the players' fitness and implementing and instilling my desired playing style in them," Nazri said at a press conference ahead of the 2026 President's Cup match.

According to him, each participating team has its own goals and preparations for the pre-season tournament. However, he prioritizes his own team's development over the opponent's strategy.

"With all due respect to our opponents, they certainly have their own plans and preparations. But I'm more focused on my players, my team, and how we're going to implement the style of football we want to play," he said.
