The Corruption Eradication Commission supports the Indonesian House of Representatives in accelerating deliberations and ratification of the Draft Law on Restrictions on Currency Transactions.
KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo explained that the anti-corruption agency supports this because the use of cash during general elections is considered to be large in amount, and is vulnerable to being used for vote buying practices, especially during the campaign period.
"The use of cash, which is difficult to trace, opens up space for the influx of funds from criminal acts into the political process, whether for purchasing political support, mobilizing voters, or other winning activities," Budi told journalists.
