The Corruption Eradication Commission responded to questions regarding the possibility of taking over the alleged corruption case involving former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes Febrie Adriansyah if the investigation by the Attorney General's Office stalls.
"Please refer to the provisions of Article 10A of Law Number 19 of 2019," said KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu when contacted.
Asep made this statement after the case involving Febrie was handed over to the Attorney General's Office (AGO) by the Indonesian National Police's Corruption Eradication Corps.
Previously, Asep had only addressed the possibility of the
Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) taking over the case from the National Police. Law No. 19 of 2019 regulates the second amendment to Law No. 30 of 2002 concerning the Corruption Eradication Commission.
Meanwhile, Article 10A of the Law stipulates that the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) has the authority to take over investigations and/or prosecutions of perpetrators of corruption crimes that are being carried out by the police or the prosecutor's office.
