TASS news agency reported that Kazakhstan conducted the first test flight of the AutoFlight Prosperity flying taxi vehicle over the capital, Astana.
The agency noted that the tests were overseen by Kazakhstan's Advance Air Group and China's AutoFlight, during which the aircraft took off and landed vertically from the Kazanat test range. The flight lasted 10 minutes, during which the aircraft completed two aerial maneuvers and covered a distance of approximately 2.4 kilometers.
For safety reasons, no one was in the cockpit during the tests, as AutoFlight Prosperity flew autonomously along a predetermined route.
The AutoFlight Prosperity vehicle is scheduled to be showcased during the "Future Games" event, which will be held in the Kazakh capital on July 29 and 30.
The vehicle is designed to accommodate a driver and five passengers, is powered by 13 electric motors, and can fly at speeds of up to 200 kilometers per hour, and travel a distance of up to 200 kilometers when its battery is fully charged.
It is worth noting that Russia also conducted the first test of the “flying taxi” with a passenger on its territory at the beginning of this month. The tests were conducted at the “Pushesty” aircraft testing base on Sakhalin Island. Experts at the Russian company “Aurora” indicated that the final model of this vehicle is expected to be completed in 2026, to be presented during the Russian “Sakhalin Wings” forum in 2027.
