Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform Rini Widyantini has asked government agencies to provide work flexibility for state civil servants who will accompany their children on the first day of school.
In her statement , Rini said the flexible work arrangements are expected to enable civil servants to support their children without compromising professionalism, productivity, or the quality of service to the public.
"The implementation of this flexible work environment should not reduce the quality of government and public services. On the contrary, we hope that this policy will enable civil servants to work with greater focus, adapt to developments, and achieve greater balance in their lives," he said.
The appeal was contained in the Letter of the Minister of PANRB Number B/257/M.KT.02/2026 issued in order to support strengthening family resilience and the role of the family for ASN employees.
Through the letter, the Civil Service Development Officer (PPK) in each government agency is asked to provide an opportunity for ASN who have children in early childhood education, elementary education, and secondary education to accompany their children on the first day of school.
This policy refers to the Regulation of the Minister of PANRB Number 4 of 2025 concerning the Flexible Implementation of Civil Servant Official Duties in Government Agencies.
This appeal is also in line with the Fathers Accompanying Children on the First Day of School Movement which is regulated in the Circular Letter of the Minister of Population and Family Development/Head of the BKKBN Number 17 of 2026 as part of efforts to strengthen family resilience and increase parental involvement, especially fathers, in childcare.
"A parent's presence in a child's development isn't just a supplement, but a crucial pillar with profound and long-term impacts. This initiative is a simple step, but it can have a psychological impact, bringing parents, especially fathers, closer to their children," said Rini.
