Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin asked soldiers of the Territorial Development Infantry Battalion to work professionally in strengthening regional defense and serving the community.
This was said when he visited Yonif TP 885/Belibis Putih in Bojonegoro, East Java.
"The soldiers of the TP Infantry Battalion must be present as a disciplined, resilient defense force, close to the people, and capable of making real contributions to development and community welfare," Sjafrie said on his Instagram account, as quoted.
According to Sjafrie, from the beginning, YTP was designed to be a special unit to serve village communities by developing the region in terms of infrastructure and the economy.
From an economic perspective, YTP personnel are deployed to build food barns such as fruit and vegetable plantations and livestock farms.
The farming and fish farming will be managed by the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), with the results directly benefiting the community. Thus, YTP can create food security in each region.
Meanwhile, in terms of infrastructure development, YTP personnel can also repair and build public facilities so that they can be enjoyed by the community.
However, in carrying out all these tasks, the YTP unit must be equipped with adequate facilities to support the work of the soldiers.
For this reason, Sjafrie and his staff routinely review YTPs throughout Indonesia to ensure the readiness of the facilities and YTP soldiers, as was done at the Yonif TP 885/Belibis Putih headquarters.
