The Minister of Youth and Sports said that Asian Boxing is a learning opportunity to strengthen Asian boxing

 




  Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir said that the 2026 Asian Boxing U19 and U23 events in  are a momentum for athletes from Indonesia and other countries to learn from each other to strengthen Asian boxing.

"This championship is more than just a competition. It's an opportunity to learn from each other, share experiences, and raise the standards of boxing across Asia," said Erick Thohir at the opening ceremony of the 2026 Asian Boxing U19 and U23 Championships at Bakset Hall, Senayan.

He explained that Indonesia was honored to welcome 48 delegates from around 20 Asian countries to the men's and women's age-group boxing championships, which took place from July 5-16. He expressed his delight at hosting the visiting teams, not only as competitors but also as brothers and sisters with a shared passion for the sport and a shared commitment to strengthening friendship and solidarity across Asia.

The Minister of Youth and Sports stated that the event provided a platform for athletes to learn from each other and improve their skills so that they could represent Asia at the world level in the future.

"By challenging and competing with each other, the sport of boxing will become stronger together as Asia," he said.
