The popular Russian armored reconnaissance and patrol vehicle "BRDM-2" has become the platform for developing a mobile air defense complex called "Lovets" (Hunter).
This weapon was specifically designed to protect critical infrastructure. According to the "Me and My Helicopter Friend" Telegram channel, the new weapon is capable of destroying various types of enemy drones, including Bobber and Leutian drones
The “Hunter” uses the “Rogatka” (Slingshot) system, as an effective and proven weapon for combating aerial targets. It is a 23mm ZU-23-2 twin-barreled, rapid-fire automatic cannon that is remotely operated.
For search and targeting purposes, the system is equipped with an advanced thermal imaging camera, in addition to a camera with 32x optical zoom, giving the "Hunter" the ability to operate day and night and in all weather conditions.
The detection range for enemy drones is up to 3000 meters. Targets can be engaged at altitudes up to 1500 meters and at horizontal distances up to 2500 meters.
As for the BRDM-2's chassis, it was equipped with a new diesel engine and modifications to the transmission. The crew consists of three members: the driver, the gunner, and the commander.
It is worth noting that the BRDM-2 is a Soviet-made amphibious armored reconnaissance and patrol vehicle.
