Boxer Dina Thorslund will challenge reigning world champion Cherneka Johnson in the women's bantamweight (53.5 kg) division to reclaim the title on August 8 at Carive Royale, Florida, United States.
"This intense fight pits two of the best female fighters in the sport against each other and has all the ingredients to be one of the most important women's boxing matches of the year," the World Boxing Council (WBC) said in a statement on its official website, which was monitored in Jakarta on Saturday.
The bout is one of the biggest fights in women's boxing this year, bringing together two elite fighters who previously failed to meet in 2025.
At that time, Thorslund was forced to withdraw from a title unification match against Shurretta Metcalf after learning she was pregnant.
Johnson, who replaced Thorslund, took advantage of the opportunity and defeated Metcalf via technical knockout (TKO) in the ninth round.
