UEFA has criticized FIFA's decision to suspend the ban on US striker Folarin Balogun for receiving a red card in the current World Cup.
Reuters reported that US President Donald Trump had a telephone call with FIFA President Gianni Infantino earlier last week and the US president asked for a review of the red card given to striker Folarin Balogun.
FIFA announced on Sunday that Balogun will be eligible to play for the US national team in Tuesday's round of 16 match against Belgium, in a rare reversal of the one-match suspension he faced after receiving a red card in a match against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
UEFA said in a statement on Monday that FIFA had "crossed a red line" and undermined the integrity of the game.
He added, "We express our astonishment at this unprecedented, incomprehensible, and unjustified decision."
He continued, "When the definitive nature of the rules is no longer guaranteed by their guardians, the integrity of the game is at stake and the credibility of the championship is undermined."
Balogun, who scored three goals for the United States in the current World Cup, was sent off after a VAR review for a tackle on defender Tarik Mahremovic's ankle during the win over Bosnia and Herzegovina in the round of 32.
