US violations show that Trump's signature is "worthless"

Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei said that the United States’ violation of the Memorandum of Understanding again proved to everyone once again that the US president’s signature is worthless.

This came in a post on his social media accounts on Saturday.

Khamenei reiterated his description of the United States as the “Great Satan,” arguing that the renewed violation of the agreement proved to everyone once again that the US president’s signature is worthless and invalid.

He explained that “arrogance and brutality are an integral part of the American mentality.”

Khamenei indicated that the Iranian people will continue to have confidence in the heads of the legislative, executive and judicial authorities, and will continue to be present in the field to protect national interests.

He stressed the importance of maintaining unity and solidarity in the country.

Earlier on Saturday, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi announced that his country was suspending its commitments under the memorandum of understanding signed with the United States.

Gharibabadi told Iranian state television that the decision to suspend the agreement came in response to what he described as the US position on the interim agreement between the two countries.

For about a week, the United States has been launching successive waves of strikes on sites inside Iran, while Tehran is responding with attacks on sites and bases that it says are American military bases in a number of countries in the region.

On June 18, 2026, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding that included a cessation of military operations and the start of negotiations to reach a broader agreement.

But on July 8, US President Donald Trump announced the end of the interim agreement after three ships were targeted in the Strait of Hormuz, prompting Washington to resume its strikes inside Iran, amid escalating Iranian responses.

Washington demands guarantees of freedom of navigation and security in the Strait of Hormuz, while Tehran insists on imposing a mechanism to regulate the passage of ships through the strategic waterway, exacerbating fears of disruption to oil and gas exports from the region.
