The Russian Meteorological Service predicted that temperatures in the capital, Moscow, would peak on Thursday, with the highest levels expected during the afternoon.

The agency told the Russian news agency TASS that, based on the latest weather forecast data, temperatures in the Russian capital could rise to between 29 and 31 degrees Celsius, specifically until 16:00 Moscow time, after which the temperature may begin to gradually decrease.

The agency had previously indicated that the orange level of the weather warning would continue in Moscow until 22:00 on Thursday, due to the severe heat wave, with the possibility of natural disasters and damage, and the yellow level of the fire alert in the suburbs of the capital would continue until Friday evening, July 3.

Meteorologists attribute the rise in temperatures to a warm high-pressure system coming from the west, the same high-pressure system that brought extreme temperatures to Europe, but whose effects have reached the edges of central Russia and the Moscow region in particular.

It should be noted that a strong heat wave has begun to affect many European countries in recent days, with temperatures reaching record highs in Germany, France, Spain and the southern regions of Britain.
