the United States ignored intelligence reports concerning the attack on a primary school in the city of Minab in southeastern Iran last February, which resulted in the death of 168 girls.
The network reported on Tuesday, citing three sources familiar with the matter, that senior leaders in the US military failed to take into account that the information in the databases was very outdated.
The sources added that the messages exchanged between intelligence and military officials included calls to re-examine targets that were based on intelligence information dating back several years.
One source quoted US military officials as saying, “Days after the attack, they realized the magnitude of the mistake they had made”.
The commander of the US Central Command , Brad Cooper, claimed last May, during his testimony before Congress, that the school “was located inside an active missile base belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.”
It is worth mentioning that 168 girls were killed as a result of an American-Israeli bombing that targeted the “Good Tree” primary school for girls in the city of Minab in Hormozgan province, southern Iran, on February 28, which was the first day of the American-Israeli war on Iran, which continued until the announcement of a ceasefire on April 8.
In June, the United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding stipulating a cessation of hostilities, the lifting of the US naval blockade on Iran, and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
Washington and Tehran are still holding rounds of negotiations to discuss ways to implement the memorandum of understanding, the latest of which was in Doha on June 30, mediated by Qatar and Pakistan.
