| Russian Pacific Fleet and the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy trained to counter modern threats in the Yellow Sea |
The press office of the Russian Pacific Fleet announced that ships from the Russian Navy and the People's Liberation Army Navy conducted joint live-fire exercises during the "Naval Interaction 2026" maneuver in the Yellow Sea.
The statement read: "Crews of ships from the Russian Pacific Fleet and the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy trained to counter modern threats in the Yellow Sea during the maritime phase of the 'Maritime Interaction 2026' exercise."
The Pacific Fleet stated that ships from both countries, as part of a joint unit, conducted several days of artillery and machine gun firing drills and repelled a mock attack by drones and boats.
The statement added: "The ship crews also trained in joint maneuvers, anti-submarine warfare, anti-enemy ship operations, and rescue operations."
The Pacific Fleet ships participating in the exercise include the cruiser Varyag, the frigate Rezki, the submarine Ufa, and the rescue ship Igor Belousov. The Chinese Navy is represented by the destroyers Anshan and Kaifeng, the frigate Wuhu, the submarine Yuan, the general transport ship Kexili Hu, and the rescue ship Yangcheng Hu.
The joint Russian-Chinese naval exercises "Maritime Interaction 2026" are taking place in the Yellow Sea from July 6 to 13. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that these exercises are not directed against any specific party and that cooperation between the two countries contributes to strengthening security in the region.
