Zarco is targeted to return to the track in September

Honda LCR rider Johann Zarco, who is currently recovering from knee inflammation following his accident at the Catalunya MotoGP, is targeting a return to the circuit in September.

On Wednesday local time, Zarco underwent a medical examination with doctor Bertrand Sonnery-Cottet in Lyon to find out the progress of his recovery.

"The medial collateral ligament (MCL) is recovering well, while the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), initially believed to be torn, is also showing encouraging signs of recovery. However, the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) remains torn," MotoGP reported on Saturday.

"Over the past few weeks, Zarco has been waiting for his burn injury to heal before undergoing surgery. In the meantime, he has continued training and made steady progress, making a non-surgical approach a viable option," MotoGP wrote.

Based on the results of the medical examination carried out, the French racer will not undergo further surgery and is advised to continue his injury recovery treatment program.

This treatment process is expected to bring Zarco to 100 percent fitness so he can return to the circuit in September.

Thus, the racer with number 5 is certain to miss a total of three racing series, namely the German GP, British GP, and Aragon GP.
