German tennis player Alexander Zverev maintained his chances of making history after securing his first Wimbledon final after defeating home wild card Arthur Ferry in the semifinals on Friday (10/7).
The victory puts Zverev one step closer to a second consecutive Grand Slam title, after winning his first Grand Slam trophy at Roland Garros last month.
"I'm still focused, I'm still hungry for victory. I want more. I want to keep playing at my best and keep winning. I hope I can do that, and on Sunday I have another great opportunity," Zverev said, as quoted by the ATP.
The Wimbledon final marked Zverev's best performance at the All England Club. Previously, the 29-year-old had never advanced beyond the fourth round of the prestigious grasscourt tournament.
If Zverev wins Wimbledon, he will become the first male tennis player in the modern era to win a second Grand Slam title after winning his first.
