Endoscopist Mikhail Matveev noted that nausea and bloating after eating may indicate the presence of gallstones.
According to him, gallstones don't always cause immediate, sharp pain. However, in the early stages, they may cause nausea after eating, bloating, and a bitter taste in the mouth. A feeling of heaviness or discomfort in the upper right abdomen after eating fatty or fried foods, and pain that may radiate to the right shoulder, shoulder blade, or back, may also indicate a problem.
He says: "These symptoms usually appear long before complications occur and are attributed to dietary factors. Therefore, gallstones are often diagnosed after an attack of biliary colic - acute pain in the right side. This condition may be accompanied by nausea, frequent vomiting, and fever."
The doctor points out that the danger of gallstones is not limited to the severe pain they cause. They can also cause blockage of the bile ducts, which can lead to acute cholecystitis and pancreatitis—a sudden inflammation of the gallbladder and pancreas, which can be life-threatening.
